Cork Environmental Forum is a key partner in EcCoWell and Cork Sky Friendly campaign and were delighted to be involved in the organisation of this event with other Dark Sky Ireland partners, most especially Blackrock Castle Observatory to bring awareness and inform local government planners, lighting engineers, architects and the wider public about the many dangers of light pollution and how we can all address this issue.
Representatives were pleased to meet with the Roads Maintenance Office who are tasked with replacement of public lighting in 24 local authorities. The Dark Sky group shared their policy paper with recommendations that would create less impact and avoid unnecessary light pollution.
