This year we were comissioned by Cork City Council to conduct filmed interviews for four of their Open Streets Events. These Community Festivals closed down key streets in Cork City and opened them up to food, music, and fun activities for the whole family. We were there asking people what they thought about more pedestrianisation and if they would be willing to sacrifice bringing the car into the city in exchange for this kind of vibrant energy on the streets.
The answer from everyone we talked to was a whole hearted YES. The people of Cork want to see more pedestrian friendly streets for the health, social and environmental benefits and we hope to continue our work on the Steering Committee for Cork Cities Open Streets Festivals to ensure that Cork continues to prioritise pedestrians over cars.
