This will be one of the longer, faster cycles of the week and involve busier roads, so it will be particularly suited to more confident cyclists

Join us for an unforgettable journey into the night as we cycle from Blackrock Castle out around Mahon strand and back along the Old railway line.
Always one of our most popular and memorable cycles of the year.
The journey will be broken by unexpected sensory experiences, which may include music, poetry, performance, light and dark.
This event will follow on directly from the "Bike Week Sunset Cycle Through the Planets" to Blackrock Castle.

A guided cycle through the first 20 Billion years of the universe from the big bang at St Patrick's Bridge through the birth of the first stars. the birth of the Earth, the evolution of life, to today and on to the death of the sun and merger of our milky way galaxy with Andromeda at Blackrock Castle.
The Full Moon Cycle will follow from this cycle and begin at Blackrock Castle Observatory

A relaxed social cycle around the Southside of Cork City
The majority of this cycle will be off road and most of the rest on very quiet roads, it will be slow and easy so is particularly suited to those who are less confident cyclists
A Cycle out along the river to the Lee Fields, then along the Greenway behind CIT to Curraheen, though quite estate roads to the Greenway parallel to the N22 between the Bandon Road and Wilton, though quite estate roads and across the Cycle/Pedestrian bridge to Togher cross to join the Greenway Parallel to the N22 into the Tramore Valley Park for a picnic stop, leave the park via the Greenway Parallel to the N22 to Douglas Village, through the village to the Park on to the Green way to Donnybrook, back through Douglas village to the Green way behind Besskrook to Mahon Strand, past Blackrock Castle and alone the Marine back to the city.

Bike week cycle to Cobh & Great Island

A cycle out to Great Island out the old railway greenway. Cross on the ferry before cycling around Great Island There will be a break for a picnic in Marlog before Cobh with panoramic views of Cork harbour and beginning the journey back to the city.
This will be one of the longer, faster cycles of the week and involve busier roads and hills so will be particularly suited to more confident cyclists.
Note the cycle will depart at 12 but we'll have a bike doctor before at the fountain shortly after 11.

We'll enjoy a relaxed evening cycling out along the Lee Valley to Ballincollig Regional Park, where we'll stop for a picnic, some games, and to find native wildflowers. On the way back, as the Sun sets, we may see the bats come out to forage.

Midleton Greenway Cycle with free Rail Transfer

A relaxed social of road cycle on the beautiful new Midleton to Youghal Greenway
This cycle will be completely off-road apart from the first few hundred meters on the Grand Parade, it will be slow and easy so is particularly suited to those who are less confident cyclists.
You can join us on the Grand Parade at 12 noon or at Midleton railway station at 1:10, Irish Rail is providing a free rail transfer from Kent Station to Midleton Station for cyclists and their bikes free of charge to showcase the ease of traveling by bike and rail.

Bike Week Art Exhibition
The Friary
For over 15 years, beginning with the Cork Cycling Art Festival and continuing with Bike Week, our annual Art Exhibition has showcased bike and cycling-themed artworks from our local Cork artists and submissions from our International Mail Art Call.
The exhibition will remain open daily from 4:30 to 11:30 p.m. for viewing throughout Bike Week, including during several Bike Week events in the Friary. For ideal viewing, try to visit 4:30-6:30 pm.
Before Bike Week kicks off, we have the opening event 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, May 7th, followed by cycle-themed chats and company.

Tree Planting at Macroom Demense to remember Olive White/ Lady Ardilaun

Though discomfiting for some Ascendancy Ireland forms the weathering bedrock of our collective cultural memory and experience. Olive White (Baroness Lady Ardilaun), born in Macroom Castle 1850, and Passovered December 13th 1925, will be remembered.
A community planting of a Copper Beech, led by Ted Cook, Heritage Specialist, will take place at 11am on Saturday 13th December adjacent to the plaque that the Trustees erected in 2015 to mark the 90th Anniversary of her death. The planting site by the river Sullane, in her beloved Castlegrounds Demense which were laid out in 1345.
During the planting we will verify Olive’s claim in her letter to the Trustees in 1925 that she is the direct descendant of the McCarthy’s the ancient Kings of Munster from the 8th Century. During the event Ted Cook will regale the detailed descent of Olive White/ Lady Ardilaun and the wider family.

Discover diverse marine life on and around this Blue flag beach with local and national marine ecologists at low tide. This event ties in with the EU Maritime Day Conference in Cork, Cork Harbour Festival and Ireland's National Biodiversity Week. It is a great opportunity to discover shore and marine life with representatives three of Ireland's leading environmental NGOs.
Following a short overview of this coastal zone and estuary, we will break up into 3 groups as follows:
Karin Dubsky, Coastwatch, will demonstrate some citizen science water testing and bioindicator monitoring methods, link these to EU water law and engage you in role play as part of a More4Nature Horizon project.

A Cycle out along the river to the Lee Fields, then along the Greenway behind CIT to Curraheen, though quite estate roads to the Greenway parallel to the N22 between the Bandon Road and Wilton, though quite estate roads and across the Cycle/Pedestrian bridge to Togher cross to join the Greenway Parallel to the N22 into the Tramore Valley Park for a picnic stop, leave the park via the Greenway Parallel to the N22 to Douglas Village, through the village to the Park on to the Green way to Donnybrook, back through Douglas village to the Green way behind Besskrook to Mahon Strand, past Blackrock Castle and alone the Marine back to the city.

A cycle out to Great Island out the old railway greenway. Cross on the ferry before cycling around Great Island There will be a break for a picnic in Marlog before Cobh with panoramic views of Cork harbour and beginning the journey back to the city.
This will be one of the longer, faster cycles of the week and involve busier roads and hills so will be particularly suited to more confident cyclists.
Note the cycle will depart at 12 but we'll have a bike doctor before at the fountain shortly after 11.

Bike Week Art Exhibition
The Friary
For over 15 years, beginning with the Cork Cycling Art Festival and continuing with Bike Week, our annual Art Exhibition has showcased bike and cycling-themed artworks from our local Cork artists and submissions from our International Mail Art Call.
The exhibition will remain open daily from 4:30 to 11:30 p.m. for viewing throughout Bike Week, including during several Bike Week events in the Friary. For ideal viewing, try to visit 4:30-6:30 pm.
Before Bike Week kicks off, we have the opening event 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, May 7th, followed by cycle-themed chats and company.

Midleton Greenway Cycle with free Rail Transfer

A relaxed social of road cycle on the beautiful new Midleton to Youghal Greenway
This cycle will be completely off-road apart from the first few hundred meters on the Grand Parade, it will be slow and easy so is particularly suited to those who are less confident cyclists.
You can join us on the Grand Parade at 12 noon or at Midleton railway station at 1:10, Irish Rail is providing a free rail transfer from Kent Station to Midleton Station for cyclists and their bikes free of charge to showcase the ease of traveling by bike and rail.
